023. Carol Page – The Grampians

023. Carol Page – The Grampians

Acrylic, 60cm x 50cm.

My father had treatment for haemochromatosis but because his heart had a small hole the taking of the blood affected his well being. The heart was repaired and treatment for haemochromatosis recommenced six months later. The Grampians was his favourite holiday destination so that was the place to escape blood day but my mother had to cajole him into going later in the month. My father always said when his veins were empty they would fill with bubbles of fresh air.

Blood day lasted for many years.
